Martin Koss makes an interesting conjecture:
A genuine review is more likely to be found written by john365B7 rather than MyAmazingSoftwareReview.com!
The irony of this statement is that whereas there is no knowing who “john365B7” might be, it is fairly simple to look up who is responsible for MyAmazingSoftwareReview.com (in a so-called “whois” database). Indeed, that is one of the reasons why browse.name links to such whois database lookup tools.
As time goes on, I expect the quality of generic “algorithmic” search engines — i.e., the results they spit out on SERPs — will continue to decrease, and the results from using the Wisdom of the Language will continue to increase.
Which do you trust more — and why?
